Description

No. 42 Market Place is an early 18th-century building that stands two storeys high. It has a rendered exterior and a steep pantile roof with stone coped gable ends featuring kneelers. The building has a central stack and three windows, with the two on the left having later surrounds that include incised keystones. To the right, there is a canted bay. The ground floor features two shop fronts, each with plain pilasters and glazed doors. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 15 and 16, 16A, 17 to 23, and 33 to 38, as well as St George's House, forming a cohesive architectural ensemble with Nos. 40 to 48, of which several are noted as buildings of local interest.
