Description
Avenue Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick in English garden wall bond and has a pantile roof. The building features a double range layout, one room deep, with twin gable ends facing the road. It stands two storeys high with attics and has four first-floor windows.
The entrance includes a six-panel door with a four-pane sash window in an altered opening to the left, and two recessed sash windows with glazing bars to the right. There is a raised band above the ground floor. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars and a raised band at the level of the centre of the sash, which extends over the windows to create continuous hoodmoulds. A slatted window is present in the left attic. All openings are set beneath flat soldier arches, and the gables have coping. The building has ridge stacks. Avenue Cottage is included for its group value.
