Description
55 and 56 Eastgate are early 19th-century cottages that stand two storeys high. They are constructed from coursed stone and topped with a pantile roof, which features the remains of a kneeler on the left side and two brick chimney stacks. The front of the cottages has three windows with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two windows and two doorways, all with lintels, and the doorways have blocked rectangular fanlights above them. The doors are made up of four panels, and there is a lower central passage entry. These cottages are part of a group that includes Nos 42 to 47, 49 to 57, and 59 to 70, with Nos 50 to 52, 56, 57, 68, and 69 also noted for their local interest.
