Description

These are early to mid-19th century cottages located on the north side of Eastgate. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof and feature three brick stacks. The front has five windows and a small window above an elliptical-headed, rusticated carriage archway. The windows are arranged in a pattern of three across the left side, two across the right, with the central window on the left side now blocked; they have flat lintels. On the ground floor, there are two windows flanking two modern doors. The right-hand side contains two windows featuring incised keystones and the carriage archway. Nos 42 to 47, 49 to 57, and 59 to 70 form a group, with Nos 50 to 52, 56, 57, 68 and 69 being of local interest.
