Description
No 81 on Long Street is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick and features a pantile roof with stone coping and shaped kneelers, along with end chimneys. The building has a wood modillion eaves cornice and stands three storeys tall with three bays.
The central entrance includes a 20th-century six-panel door that is adorned with a patterned radial fanlight, as well as panelled reveals and soffit in the doorcase. This doorcase is supported by consoles and features a dentilled pediment with paterae and a head in the frieze. On either side of the entrance are later 19th-century canted bays with segmental-arched sash windows. Above these, there are sash windows with painted lintels that have keyblocks and cills. Additionally, there is a 20th-century window in the original opening on the centre of the first floor.
