Description
Nos 1 and 2 on Watson's Lane are a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and was raised and subdivided later. The building is constructed from coursed squared chalk with brick quoins and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. Originally, it had a three-cell, hearth-passage plan and is 1½ storeys high.
There is a 20th-century door in the original opening to the right of the centre, which is set under a segmental brick arch. To the left of the centre, there is a later inserted boarded door. A replacement three-light casement window is located at the left end, positioned under a thin timber lintel. The remaining windows are two-light, large-pane, horizontal sliding sashes. On the first floor at the right end, there is a later inserted raking half dormer. The building features a brick eaves course and has stacks at the ends and right of the centre.
