Description

This is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings, located on Market Street in Charlbury. The front of the building dates to the 19th century, but it incorporates a core structure from the 18th century. Constructed of coursed square rubble, the roof is covered in concrete tiles, and there are two chimneys – one brick and one of stone finished with brick. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and presents a four-window facade. A recessed double-leaf door, with a half-glazed lower section and a rectilinear-glazed overlight, is situated to the right of the centre. A further recessed door and a 20th-century window are set within a former segmental-arched passage. The first-floor windows to the left have sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath flat stone lintels. The windows to the right are larger-paned sash windows with horns. Three rendered dormers, one glazed, are visible in the attic, each featuring wooden casements. Inside No. 10, a ground-floor fireplace retains a wooden bressumer.
