Description

Downsteps is likely one house, later divided into two properties, dating from the late 18th century, with possible additions in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared rubble with timber lintels and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front featuring large-paned sash windows with horns. A pair of doors are located in the centre of the ground floor, set below street level, and are sheltered by a continuous hood supported on brackets. Three gabled half-dormers are located in the attic, each with large-paned sash windows and horns. The building has two end chimneys. A probable latrine extension is located at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
