Description
This is a mid-to-late 18th-century house, located on the south side of Main Street in Cayton. Originally assessed as a single property (No. 82), it is now understood to encompass Nos. 82 and 84. The construction is of herringbone-tooled sandstone, with a pantile roof and brick stacks. The building follows a three-cell, hearth-passage plan. It is two storeys high. The front features a central door with horizontal sliding sashes to the right; a two-light 20th-century casement window sits to the left, with a sash window at the end of the left side. The first floor also has similar windows. All openings are topped with flat arches and raised keystones. The right gable has a cope and kneeler. There are stacks at both ends of the building and one in the centre.
