Description

Killerby Old Hall is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which was remodelled in the mid 18th century and raised and re-roofed in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone with brick additions, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof, along with a rendered brick stack. The building has a central stairhall plan and is two stories high with a five-window front. It has irregular quoins and a central part-glazed and panelled door with a divided overlight, which is accessed by a flight of stone steps. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and all openings have splayed architraves. A moulded string course runs along the first floor, stepping over the doorway. The left and right return fronts have two-light mullion and transom windows on both floors. The staircase tower on the left includes a blocked Tudor-arched doorway and a two-light mullion window above. The roof is hipped with a central stack.

Inside, there is a re-used 17th-century closed-string staircase featuring a moulded handrail and newel posts. A massive 18th-century brick fireplace with a domed bread oven is located in the rear room to the left. Additionally, 17th-century panelling has been re-used in a first-floor room at the right rear.
