Description
Scarborough College is a building designed in 1898 by Edwin Cooper, who later became a knight. It is located on Filey Road and is constructed in a free Tudor style. The south front features eight bays, with a canted section at the west end and a projecting gabled wing to the east. The main block has a segmental arched stone cloister arcade on the ground floor, which includes a central gatehouse feature. The building is primarily made of red brick, and the first-floor windows have stone surrounds that extend through deep eaves to gabled dormers. The upper stages of the gatehouse feature tapering octagonal turrets, and the windows are casement style. There are later extensions at the rear.
