Description

The George V Coronation Memorial Clock Tower, built in 1911 and presented by Arthur Shuttleworth, is located on The Esplanade. Constructed from ashlar stone, the tower has a square base featuring arched openings and rusticated pilasters on either side. An entablature with obelisk finials decorates the corners. Above this, the octagonal clock stage is adorned with Ionic columns on the main faces, each topped with segmental pediments. The structure is crowned by an octagonal leaded cupola that includes small arched openings. The clock tower is set on a balustraded terrace.
