Description

Old Weaver's Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, situated on the south side of Main Street, East Ayton. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with a pantile roof and brick stacks. The original layout comprised three cells, including a hearth passage. The front of the house has three windows arranged over three storeys. A 20th-century part-glazed door is located to the right of the centre. At the right end is a 20th-century fixed window with glazing bars, and two 2-light horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars to the left. The first floor has 2- and 3-light small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows. All ground floor window openings are topped by thin timber lintels. End and centre stacks are present.
