Description

Nos 8 and 10 Castlegate are a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century, with later alterations. They are constructed of coursed rubble sandstone and feature a pantile roof with brick stacks. The two-storey front has two bays for each house. Both houses have 20th-century doors located to the centre left and centre right, flanked by two ground floor windows. No 8 has 20th-century windows in the original openings, while No 10 features large-pane, horizontal sliding sashes with two lights. All openings are topped with tripartite wedge lintels that have raised keyblocks. The houses have end left and centre stacks and are included for their group value.
