Description
A row of five early 19th-century terraced cottages stands on Main Street, Acklam. The cottages are constructed of hammer-dressed sandstone with a pantile roof. Each cottage follows a simple single-cell direct-entry plan. They are two storeys high, with five first-floor windows visible along the front. There is a straight joint marking the division between numbers 4 and 5. Each cottage originally had a four-panel door, though number 4 now features a 20th-century two-panel door. The windows are Yorkshire sash windows with two lights, set beneath cambered brick arches on numbers 1, 2, and 3. Numbers 4 and 5 have casement windows in larger openings, and number 5 includes a shop front. The left end and ridge of the roof are emphasized by chimneys.
