Description

Town End Bridge is a single span stone bridge located on the west side of Main Street in Sowerby. It was recognized in the Sessions of 1672, which allocated £10 to help construct a 'sufficient horse bridge' at Sowerby Bridge. The bridge has a span of 10 yards and a width of just over 5 feet, featuring a segmental arch. For further reference, see E Jervoise's "The Ancient Bridges of the North of England," published in 1931, page 74 and figure 36.
