Description
This is a terrace of houses located on North Marine Road, built around 1830. The terrace comprises numbers 60 to 84 (even) and forms a group of considerable group value. The houses are constructed of dark red brick with a low-pitched gable-ended slate roof. They are three storeys high, with an attic and basement.
Each house has a wooden entablature and a full-height segmental bow window, featuring tripartite sash windows and single sashes above the entrances. The majority of the glazing bars remain intact. The front doors consist of four moulded panels, some of which have been altered. Each has a rectangular fanlight within a Greek Doric doorcase.
The return front of number 84, at the entrance to Trafalgar Square, features two small round-headed windows within the gable, linked by imposts to the archivolts. The symmetrical elevation presents three windows to the central Greek Doric columned porch, which has a later rectangular wooden bay added above, featuring corner pilasters with leaf capitals and a round-headed window to the front.
