Description
Two gate piers and a gate, dating from the late 19th century, are located approximately 75 metres southeast of The Mansion in Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton. The structures are made of cast and wrought iron and stand about 1.5 metres high. The square section piers feature an openwork design with St. Andrews crosses and geometric panels, topped with shallow pyramidal caps. The gate itself has seven rails and is reinforced by straps shaped like two St. Andrews crosses, which include roundels resembling roses. The top bar of the gate is adorned with two decorative wrought-iron scrolls. These features contribute to the group value of the site.
