Description

The gates and gate piers to The Old School are a notable feature located on the south side of Penny Street in Sturminster Newton. The gate piers are possibly from the 18th century, while the gates date to the 19th century. The piers are made of ashlar and are topped with an entablature and ball finials. The wrought iron arch displays a heart motif along with a coat of arms and an inscription on a scroll. The double gates are designed with spiked railings and have a segmental top rail.
