Description

The former Grammar School, now Penrith Library, was rebuilt in 1857. It is constructed of red sandstone and features a stone roof with a square timber belfry set diagonally, which has Gothic openings and a broach spirelet. The building is single-storey with five windows that have pointed arched heads, each containing three lights with stone mullions and transoms. There is a segmental arched doorway adorned with an old inscription on scrolls, and the building has end stone chimneys. It is included in the listing for its group value.
