Description
No. 61 is a shop located at the corner of Croft Street and Market Street in Kirkby Stephen. This building dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with quoins and features a graduated stone slate roof with brick end chimneys. The shop is two storeys high and has two bays. There are two separate shop windows with glazing bars, with the right-hand window incorporating a part-glazed door. Each window is supported by brackets that hold up a cornice decorated with nailhead motifs. On the first floor, there are two sashes without glazing bars. The Market Street elevation overlooks the front garden of Fletcher House. This building is included for its group value.
