Description
This is a barn located approximately 60 meters west of Sockbridge Hall, dating from 1679, with later alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof. The east elevation features nine original entrances with chamfered reveals, one of which has a segmental head; most of these have been converted into windows. There are two winnowing doors above, along with a central barn entrance that has been reduced in size and now has external stone steps replacing the original ramp. The elevation also includes two tiers of ventilation slots. The west elevation is similar but is partially obscured by a 20th-century shed, which also includes an inserted 20th-century barn entrance and ramp at the northern end. The south gable end is hidden by the shed, while the north elevation has six tiers of ventilation slots.
