Description
This small barn, located to the southeast of Cartledge Hall, dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It is constructed from coursed rubble coal measures sandstone with sandstone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The barn is single storey and consists of two bays. On the west elevation, there are two stable-type doorways beneath 18th-century stone lintels. The east elevation includes a 20th-century two-light casement window on the left, adorned with diamond quarries, and a single-light window on the right, which has a massive lintel and cill. The south gable end features a square taking-in door at attic level and a pigeon cote above, which has five tiers of perches. Inside, there is one cruck truss.
