Description
This barn, located north-west of Whitrigg, dates from the late 18th century. It features mixed sandstone and cobble rubble walls, complemented by red sandstone V-jointed quoins. The structure is topped with a graduated greenslate roof that has coped gables and kneelers. It is a large multi-bay barn with a loft, showcasing significant architectural elements such as large projecting cart entrances on the central and left sides, along with slit vents positioned on two levels in between. There is a left pent extension and right plank doors set in quoined surrounds beneath a loft doorway. The left return wall, which runs parallel to the front of the house, includes an oval gable vent. The rear has 20th-century extensions that are not of interest. This barn is listed for its group value with Whitrigg.
