Description
The roadside walls located north of the entrance gateway, northwest of Hutton-in-the-Forest Hall, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed from pink sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings. The low wall features chamfered coping and flanks the Carlisle road, curving at the junction with the Penrith-Wigton road. The walls terminate in square ashlar piers topped with shaped caps and ball finials, which match those at the entrance to Hutton-in-the-Forest opposite. These walls are listed for their group value with the hall.
