Description
This is a barn located north-east of Whitrigg, dating from the late 18th century. It features mixed sandstone and cobble rubble walls, complemented by red sandstone V-jointed quoins, and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof that has coped gables and kneelers. The barn is large, with two storeys and seven bays. It has central and right doors framed in quoined stone surrounds, and two segmental-arched openings on the left with keyed voussoirs. There is an extension on the right side and external stone steps on the left leading to a loft door in a stone surround. The right return wall runs parallel to the front of the house and includes an oval vent. The arrangement of these barns creates the appearance of house-wings. This barn is listed for its group value with Whitrigg.
