Description

This barn, located to the east of the farmhouse at Hartley Castle, is either from the 17th century with later alterations or from the 18th century, incorporating reused openings. It is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with quoins on a boulder plinth and features a graduated stone flag roof. To the right, there is a wagon door with an elliptical head. To the left, there are three doors, with the central one partially blocked and having a false 4-centred head. Access to the hay loft is provided by a similar opening above the upper left door. The ground floor includes a small window with a chamfered surround, along with two similar windows above. A single-storey addition to the south is not included in this description.
