Description

Braithwaite House, located on the east side of Hartley, is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble with rusticated quoins and features a graduated slate roof with stone copings, kneelers, and end chimneys. The house has a symmetrical two-storey, three-bay front, which includes a central part-glazed door set in a stone surround, flanked by 16-pane sash windows within architraves. The low rubble area walls have segmental copings. The gate piers are square in plan and topped with pyramidal caps. The wrought-iron railings have pointed standards, and the gate features pointed arch-heads between the standards.
