Description

The Manor House is a large house, now subdivided, with elements dating to 1672 and 1725, as indicated by a reset lintel. The 18th-century front of the Manor House is constructed of coursed squared rubble with a graduated slate roof, stone coping to the north end, stone end chimneys, and kneelers. The building is two storeys high and has five symmetrical bays. A four-step approach leads to a central part-glazed door, its architrave supporting a segmentally-arched pediment. There are two sashes without glazing bars on either side of the door, with the two on the right being taller and having lower sills. Five sashes with glazing bars are located on the top floor. Melbecks House is a later 18th-century addition, also of coursed squared rubble with chamfered quoins. It features a hipped, graduated slate roof with moulded eaves and a corner chimney. This part of the building is two storeys and two bays, with two tall sashes without glazing bars, matching those to the right of the door in the Manor House. Two sashes with glazing bars are above. A lean-to 20th-century pebble-dashed extension to the south end incorporates a reset 18th-century door architrave with an initialled and dated lintel.
