Description

The forecourt wall, piers, railings, and gate at New Ing Farmhouse in Shap date from the mid to late 19th century. The structure features coursed, squared rubble, ashlar, and wrought iron. The wall is approximately 2 feet high and has segmental copings. The gate and end piers are made of ashlar and stand about 5 feet tall, topped with ogee domes. The railings are hooped, and the sections are separated by knopped, cast-iron posts. This structure is included for its group value.
