Description

The north entrance gates and piers to St Michael's churchyard, located on the south side of Jackson's Lane in Shap, were likely built in the 19th century. The gate piers are made of ashlar stone and stand approximately 9 feet high on moulded plinths. They have a square shape and feature a cornice with domical ogee caps. The entrance includes wrought-iron double gates supported by knopped rod standards, although the side gate to the right has been replaced.
