Description

Two houses, Clematis Cottage and Sycamore Cottage, stand adjoining. They were built in the early 18th century. The houses are constructed of painted rubble walls with a graduated greenslate roof, topped by a large central chimney stack made of red sandstone. Each house is two storeys high and comprises three bays, sharing a common roof.

Clematis Cottage, on the left, features a 20th-century plank door in a painted stone surround. It has 20th-century casement windows set within original surrounds. The ground-floor window on the right retains its original flat stone mullion. A single-storey, single-bay pent extension is located on the left side.

Sycamore Cottage, on the right, has an off-centre plank door within a stone surround. To the left is a three-light flat stone-mullioned window, followed by two two-light windows of a similar design. The remaining windows are casements in painted stone surrounds, likely inserted into what were formerly stables or a barn.
