Description

Brownhow is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features roughcast walls with angle pilasters and is topped by a hipped roof made of graduated greenslate, which includes a large central chimney stack made of banded stone. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are two-light with round-headed lights set in flat-headed surrounds, all beneath hoodmoulds. On the left side of the building, there is a hip-roofed stone porch, which has a panelled door and an overlight within a round-arched stone surround that aligns with the facade. The rear extensions and farm buildings are not of interest.
