Description

This mid-18th century house, now a shop and flats, is located on Daltongate in Ulverston. The building is constructed of brick, painted at the front, with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. It is three storeys high and four bays wide, featuring chamfered quoins and a moulded cornice gutter. The windows on the upper floors are sash windows without glazing bars, each set within a flat brick arch. These arches have projecting keystones and projecting sills. A round arch, with a plain stone surround, keystone, and impost blocks, provides access to a yard. A late 20th-century signboard now covers this arch. The ground floor to the left has a late 19th-century timber entablature with a dentilled cornice, and currently contains a shop. Gable chimneys are present, and the gutter cornice projects forward in the centre of the facade to form a stone hopperhead.
