Description
Dalton Old Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse featuring a T-shaped plan, with its main elevation facing south. The building dates back to the 18th century, as indicated by the initials and date "L" inscribed on the door lintel. It has undergone later alterations and extensions. The exterior is finished in pebbledash over rubble, with stone dressings and a graduated greenslate roof.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three late 19th-century sash windows, each with a single vertical glazing bar. There is an off-centre vertically-split glazed door set in a chamfered stone surround, which also features an inscribed lintel with embattled sinkings. The roof has a corniced ogee gutter, with copings and kneelers, and there are two stepped protruding chimneys on the main house, along with one chimney on the extension to the left.
At the rear, there is a gabled staircase wing located at the corner of the main house and the rear wing, which includes late 18th-century small-paned windows. A massive stepped chimney stack with a round shaft is present on the rear wing. Inside, the farmhouse features a staircase with turned balusters and square newels.
