Description
The boundary post, dating from around 1830, is located at the junction of the B6384 with Paradise Lane between Ackenthwaite and Whasset. This cast-iron post is half hexagonal in shape, featuring a fluted face and a domed top. It is painted black and white and is marked "PH OF" on the east side and "PH OF" on the west side, indicating ecclesiastical boundaries for Beetham and Heversham. The design of this boundary post is similar to a series of milestones and boundary stones found in the parishes of Stainton and Preston Richard.
