Description

The boundary post opposite the Happy Eater Cafe is a boundary marker dating from around 1840. It is made of cast iron and has a T-shaped design with a low pedimented top. The post features raised lettering that reads "CODFORD ST PETER P / ASHTON GIFFORD T." on the left arm and "UPTON LOVELL P" on the right arm. This post is part of a series of cast iron mileposts and boundary posts located on turnpikes radiating from Warminster, produced by Carson and Miller, a local firm of iron founders.
