Description

The boundary post opposite the entrance to Ashton Gifford House is a cast-iron post dating from around 1840. It has a T-shaped design with a low pedimented top and features raised lettering that reads "CODFORD ST PETER" across the top and "ASHTON GIFFORD T. CODFORD T." below. This post is part of a series of cast-iron boundary posts and mile posts located on turnpikes radiating from Warminster, created by the Warminster ironfounders Carson and Miller.
