Description

Lower Rowell Cottage and Lower Rowell Farmhouse is a house that has been divided into two separate dwellings. The building likely dates from the 16th century, with the initials and date "RP 1719" above the door, indicating later alterations and an extension to the west. It features roughcast render and a graduated greenslate roof with a stone ridge. The house is two storeys high and has two large square chimney stacks, with a smaller chimney on the extension.

The front of the house has three windows: three-light windows on the upper floor and four-light windows on the ground floor, all with chamfered mullions and surrounds, and iron casements beneath hood moulds with end stops. There is an off-centre door set in a moulded stone surround with a four-centred arch, which is also under a hood mould that is linked to the hood mould of the window to the right. To the left of the door, there is a small window in a chamfered stone surround. The rear of the building has three similar three-light windows and two 20th-century casements.

The extension is also two storeys high and features three windows and a porch, all dating from the 20th century. Inside, the property has chamfered beams with end stops, repositioned 17th-century panelling, and a 19th-century staircase.
