Description
Fern Bank and the cottage attached to its right are a house and cottage, formerly known as Martins Bank, dating from the early 19th century with later alterations. The exterior features scored stucco with stone dressings that have been painted. Fern Bank has two storeys and includes four sash windows with glazing bars in plain surrounds. The entrance has a 20th-century glazed door beneath a margined overlight, flanked by Tuscan pilasters that support an entablature. There is a window on each side of the door, and to the right, a carriage arch with board doors and a segmental head. The cottage has one sash window with glazing bars in a plain surround, and a 20th-century panelled door beneath a semi-circular coved hood supported by strongly-moulded consoles. To the left of the cottage, there is a corniced canted bay with 20th-century glazing. The building features corniced eaves and has four chimneys.
