Description
A wall, railings, and gates dating to the 1870s surround the private gardens in the center of Chatsworth Square, Carlisle. The low wall is constructed of red sandstone with chamfered coping. Cast and wrought iron railings with spear and scrollwork define the garden boundaries, along with similar gates, all without piers. The wall and railings enclose rectangular, tree-lined gardens. This represents the last surviving private residents’ garden within Carlisle.
