Description

This is a barn located to the west of Soutermoor, dated 1799 and marked with the initials W.B. (Beaty). It is constructed from whitewashed sandstone rubble and features a graduated green slate roof. The barn is a single storey with a large cart entrance on the right, which has a quoined surround and a keyed round arch, alongside flanking slit vents. To the left, there is a plank door that also displays the date and initials on its lintel. Inside, the barn has four upper crucks in the loft, which are pegged at the apex and crossed to support the ridge. The barn is listed partly for its group value with Soutermoor.
