Description
The Old Custom House, located at No. 10 West Strand, was built in 1814 and is a three-storey building with a stucco exterior and an old slate roof. It features a cornice and frieze, with pilasters at the center and ends of the facade. The building has eight windows across the front; the three bays on the left are symmetrical and include a central segmental-headed carriage entrance. The five bays on the right are also symmetrical and feature a central porch with slender three-quarter columns, along with a frieze and cornice. All windows are twelve-paned and set in well-moulded architraves, although the square windows on the top floor have been replaced. The Old Custom House, along with Nos. 10 to 13 (consecutive), forms a group with No. 1 Hamilton Lane.
