Description

The Conservative Club, located at No. 38 South Street, is a building likely dating from the late 18th century that has been altered over time. It features a long stucco front with irregularly spaced windows and an ogee-bracket cornice. The roof is slate. On the first floor, there are four sash windows with exposed frames and glazing bars. The ground floor includes one three-light window and a shallow splay bay. There is a modern door in a plain reveal, situated left of center. Additionally, there is a former entrance that showcases a fine late 18th-century doorcase with fluted pilaster caps, as well as fluting and paterae on the frieze. All the listed buildings along South Street are part of a group.
