Description
25 South Street is a building that likely dates from the late 16th century and has been altered over time. It features an overhang and a corbel on the side wall at the first floor level. The building is two stories high with a two-window front, and it is plastered with rusticated quoins. The first-floor windows are flush frame sash windows with glazing bars. There is a delicate moulded eaves entablature and central glazed doors, along with an additional door on the left side. Inside, the building has massive stop-chamfered beams and a very wide stone fireplace with a herringbone tile back. Originally, this house was three stories tall with a front gable. All the listed buildings in South Street are part of a group.
