Description

The Hollins is a building that dates back to the early 18th century and has been significantly altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The structure is comprised of three dwellings and has two to three storeys with three bays, the right bay being wider than the others.

The west front has three storeys, with two bays on the left side that feature quoins. Each of these bays has a doorway with a plain stone surround located outside of the window, which has a raised cill, and a narrow single-light window on the first and second floors. The right bay is marked by rusticated quoins and includes a Venetian window on the first floor. All bays are adorned with square gutter brackets on a moulded table and have gable coping. The roof is topped with three corniced ridge stacks, a fourth stack on the left end, and one brick ridge stack.

On the rear, the right bay has three storeys, while the others have two. The central area features a half-glazed double door with a stained glass overlight, set in a porch supported by columns and topped with a pediment and blocking course. There is a band to the left, and each floor of the right bay has a six-light chamfered mullion window. The first floor of the left and central bays has a cill band and windows with plain stone surrounds, with the left bay containing a sash window with glazing bars and the central bay also having a sash window. All bays have plain gutter brackets on the table. The left side of the building, No 67, projects forward and includes a six-panel door along with another door leading to the inner return. The left return features a gable with a two-over-four-light chamfered mullion window.
