Description

The Old Hall and No 2 Field House, now two dwellings and interconnected, are likely of early 17th-century origin with 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. It is three storeys high and five bays wide. The windows are hollow-moulded, double-chamfered mullion windows. On the ground floor, from the left, are a 19th-century door and a two-light window; a wide, segment-arched 19th-century doorway (leading to the Old Hall) with imposts and a keystone; two altered double-chamfered windows; a heavily-moulded Tudor-arched doorway (leading to No 2) with imposts; two 19th-century windows within altered double-chamfered surrounds; and a narrow double-chamfered window. A continuous dripmould steps over the doorway to the Old Hall and above the doorway to No 2. The first floor has windows of 5, 4, 3, 4, and 4 lights, all with decorative-stopped dripmoulds. The second floor has windows of 5, 4, 2, 4, and 4 lights. An eaves finial is located between windows 2 and 3. The roof is hipped. A corniced stack is on the left and a wider stack is on the right. Inside No 2, turned balusters from the 18th century remain on the bottom flight of a dog-leg staircase, along with a doorway leading to Field House.
