Description

The gate piers to the back yard at Field House, likely built in the mid-19th century, are made of ashlar stone. Each pier features a plinth with a lion's head on either side and a panelled shaft adorned with oriental motifs. These shafts support a shaped, corniced pedestal and block, which is decorated on each side with a head flanked by entwined snakes. The entire structure is topped with a finial on a shaped base.
