Description

No. 42 South Street is a late 18th century or early 19th century building that stands three stories tall with a three-window stucco front that has been colourwashed. The building features sash windows with glazing bars, where the side windows are three-light, and there are stepped voussoirs above the window heads on the ground and first floors. The central doorway is framed by engaged Tuscan columns that support a dentil and modillion entablature. The door itself is a six-panel design with sunk upper panels, an enriched radial-bar fanlight, and panelled reveals. The building also has quoins and a reeded member at the eaves cornice. All the listed buildings on South Street are part of a group.
