Description

Windy Cross, located on the north side of South Street, dates back to 1735 and consists of the remains of an ancient cross. At the west end of South Street, there is a 19th-century former pump-house topped by a cross. The shaft and circular base of this cross are believed to be ancient, although they have been re-cut. These elements create a distinctive landmark in the town. All the listed buildings on South Street are part of a group value context.
